NORTH DAKOTA INDIAN AFFAIRS COMMISSION ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

FOR INDIAN YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Senator Tim Mathern today announced that the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission is now accepting applications for students to attend the 2010 North Dakota Indian Youth Leadership Academy. The academy will be held July 12-16 in Bismarck. Applications are to be postmarked by May 14.
This year’s five-day conference will include 50 native 10th to 12th grade students representing communities from North Dakota’s four Indian reservations, as well as Fargo and other non reservation communities. The academy will allow students to experience college campuses and build peer relationships across the state.
The Indian Youth Leadership Academy creates and fosters an environment for native youth to develop and sharpen their leadership skills and opening the doors to opportunity and success.
Applications are available by contacting the North Dakota Indian Affairs Commission office at (701) 328-2428.  Information is also available at www.ndiyl.com.
